“She’s simply an experienced educator with a strong grasp of both the big philosophical picture and the day-to-day work of educating students who often face extraordinary obstacles in their lives.” – Los Angeles Times 2019

Serving on the Cudahy City Council has been an honor. Since taking office, I have remained committed to one simple belief: local government should improve people's everyday lives. My work has focused on ensuring that every resident has access to the basic needs and opportunities that allow our community to thrive, including safe neighborhoods, clean and reliable drinking water, quality educational opportunities, responsive City services, and meaningful partnerships that bring resources directly to Cudahy.

Throughout my first term, I have worked to expand educational opportunities for our youth, strengthen partnerships with the Los Angeles Unified School District, nonprofit organizations, and community agencies, and improve the quality of life for residents through initiatives such as Keep Cudahy Clean, the expansion of the City's mobile app, neighborhood beautification efforts, and advocacy to address our community's water quality challenges in partnership with State Senator Lena Gonzalez. I have also championed programs that foster inclusion and belonging, including support for the Hot Wheels wheelchair basketball tournament and Angeles Por Siempre Unidos, which provides programming and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. I believe every resident deserves to feel seen, valued, and included in the life of our community.

I have also been a consistent advocate for civil and constitutional rights. I have taken a strong public stand in support of due process, freedom of speech, sanctuary protections, and greater accountability in law enforcement because I believe protecting the rights and dignity of every person is one of the most important responsibilities of local government.

As I continue to serve Cudahy, I remain committed to leading with integrity, transparency, and compassion, working every day to build a city that is safer, healthier, more inclusive, and full of opportunity for every family.

The Candidate

  • Community Partnerships

Strong communities are built through collaboration. Throughout my first term, I have worked to bring together schools, nonprofit organizations, public agencies, and residents to address the issues that matter most to our community. I believe government is most effective when it serves as a partner, connecting people, building relationships, and expanding opportunities for everyone.

Through the Cudahy Collaborative, I hope to continue to strengthen partnerships that support youth and families, expand access to educational resources, promote community health and wellness, increase resident engagement, and develop programs that reflect the needs of our community. I have championed initiatives that ensure Cudahy is welcoming and inclusive for all residents, including support for the Hot Wheels wheelchair basketball tournament and Angeles Por Siempre Unidos, which creates meaningful opportunities and programming for individuals with developmental disabilities.

By working together, we are building a stronger, more connected, and more inclusive Cudahy where every resident has the opportunity to thrive.

  • Education and Youth

As an educator and public servant, I believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed regardless of their background, neighborhood, or family income. Investing in education is one of the most meaningful ways we can strengthen our community, expand opportunity, and prepare the next generation of leaders.

Throughout my first term, I have worked to build stronger partnerships between the City of Cudahy, the Los Angeles Unified School District, local colleges, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to expand educational opportunities for our youth. These collaborations have helped connect students and families with resources, mentorship, leadership development, college access programs, and opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.

I have also supported initiatives that encourage civic engagement, youth leadership, and career exploration while advocating for programs that help students successfully transition to and through college. I believe local government has an important role to play in supporting our schools, not by replacing them, but by partnering with educators, families, and community organizations to ensure every child has the resources they need to thrive.

My commitment to education extends beyond policy. It is rooted in a lifelong career dedicated to public education and a belief that when we invest in our young people, we invest in the future of Cudahy.

  • Basic Needs and Community Safety

I believe that public safety begins long before an emergency call is made. A truly safe community is one where families have access to clean drinking water, well-maintained neighborhoods, responsive public services, reliable infrastructure, and the information they need to protect themselves and their loved ones. Meeting these basic needs is one of the most important responsibilities of local government.

Throughout my first term, I have worked to improve the everyday quality of life for Cudahy residents by supporting initiatives that create cleaner, safer, and healthier neighborhoods. From championing the Keep Cudahy Clean campaign and expanding the City's mobile app to make it easier for residents to report concerns and access City services, to advocating for solutions that address our community's water quality challenges in partnership with State Senator Lena Gonzalez, my focus has been on delivering practical improvements that residents experience in their daily lives.

I have also worked to strengthen emergency preparedness, expand community engagement, and build partnerships that improve public safety through collaboration and prevention. I believe that the safest communities are those where residents trust their local government, feel heard, and have access to the resources they need to thrive.

For me, community safety is about more than responding to problems; it is about creating the conditions that allow every resident, every family, and every neighborhood to live with security, dignity, and opportunity.
